World No Tobacco Day 2019
World No Tobacco Day (WNTD) is observed annually on 31 May. The day solemnizes a temporary 24-hour “NO-Smoking break” and abstinence from all types of tobacco. In 2019, the No Tobacco Day falls on Friday, May 31.
World No Tobacco Day is a World Health Organization (WHO) annual day of awareness, observed since 1987 to highlight the health hazards related to the use of tobacco and to encourage governments to implement effective policies to reduce tobacco smoking.
The theme of World No Tobacco Day 2019 is focused on “Tobacco & Lung Health”. This year’s WHO campaign is said to raise awareness of the negative impact of tobacco on lung health and the important role lung plays in the well-being of people.
*Do you know? According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the usage of tobacco kills around seven million people worldwide every year.
